The pattern is available in sizes for ages 2-6, with a chest measurement of 18-24 inches. The pullover is knit in one piece, from the bottom up, and features a ribbed neckband, raglan sleeves, and a simple stockinette stitch body.

The pattern is easy to follow, with clear instructions and helpful photos. Even if you're a beginner, you'll be able to create a beautiful sweater for your child.

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approximately 300-400 yards)
  • Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
  • Yarn needle

Gauge:

20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Sizes:

  • 2 years (chest 18 inches)
  • 3 years (chest 20 inches)
  • 4 years (chest 22 inches)
  • 6 years (chest 24 inches)

Pattern:

  1. Cast on 80 (88, 96, 104) stitches.
  2. Ribbing: Knit 2, purl 2 for 2 inches.
  3. Raglan sleeves: Knit 14 (16, 18, 20) stitches, place marker, knit 1, yarn over, knit 1, place marker, knit to end of row. Repeat this row 6 times.
  4. Body: Knit all stitches until piece measures 8 (9, 10, 11) inches from the cast-on edge.
  5. Armholes: Bind off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
  6. Sleeves: Knit 32 (36, 40, 44) stitches, place marker, knit to end of row. Turn the work and knit back to the marker, place marker, bind off 1 stitch, knit to end of row. Repeat this row 5 more times.
  7. Neckband: Knit 2, purl 2 for 2 inches.
  8. Bind off all stitches.

Finishing:

Sew the shoulder seams and sleeve seams. Turn the neckband to the inside of the sweater and sew down.
