The Battle of Pawankhind was fought on July 13, 1660, near the village of Pawankhind in Maharashtra, India. However, the Marathas were able to defeat the Adilshahis due to their superior tactics and leadership.

The battle began when the Adilshahi army surrounded the Maratha camp. The Marathas were outnumbered and outgunned, but they fought bravely. Baji Prabhu Deshpande, one of Shivaji's most trusted generals, led a charge against the Adilshahi army. Deshpande and his men fought valiantly, but they were eventually overwhelmed. However, their sacrifice gave Shivaji and the rest of the Maratha army time to escape.

The Battle of Pawankhind was a major victory for the Maratha Empire. It helped to secure Shivaji's independence and to establish the Maratha Empire as a major power in India.
