A Dystopian World Like No Other
The One is set in a dystopian world where society is divided into five castes: the Elites, the Royals, the Workers, the Traders, and the Outcasts. Each caste has its own set of rules and privileges, and it is impossible to move from one caste to another. The Elites are the ruling class, and they have all the power and wealth. The Royals are the second-highest caste, and they are responsible for enforcing the laws. The Workers are the third caste, and they are responsible for producing all the goods and services that the other castes need. The Traders are the fourth caste, and they are responsible for distributing the goods and services that the Workers produce. The Outcasts are the lowest caste, and they are responsible for cleaning up the waste that the other castes produce.
The main character of The One is a young woman named America Singer. America is a member of the Workers caste, but she dreams of a better life for herself. She enters a competition called The Selection, which is a televised event where thirty-five girls from the lower castes compete for the chance to marry the prince. America is chosen as one of the contestants, and she quickly becomes one of the favorites. However, as she gets closer to the prince, she begins to realize that the world she lives in is not as perfect as she thought.
