Sheridan's journey takes him from the war-torn streets of Kabul to the remote mountains of Pakistan, where he meets with Taliban fighters, Pakistani politicians, and ordinary Afghans and Pakistanis who are struggling to survive in the midst of conflict and instability. He witnesses the effects of war firsthand, as he travels through villages that have been bombed and meets with families who have lost loved ones to violence. He also learns about the deep-rooted cultural and historical factors that have contributed to the region's problems, and he explores the ways in which the war on terror has impacted the lives of the people who live there.
Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan is a powerful and moving account of a journey through two of the most dangerous and misunderstood countries in the world. Sheridan's writing is clear-eyed and compassionate, and he provides a unique perspective on the human cost of war. His book is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the complex realities of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the challenges that these countries face in the years to come.
